The Recitation of the Akshar-Purushottam Siddhant

 

येनाक्षरं पुरुषं वेद सत्यं प्रोवाच
तां तत्त्वतो ब्रह्मविद्याम्॥

Brahmavidya is that by which Akshar [Aksharbrahman] and Purush [Purushottam] are thoroughly known.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 1.2.13
ॐ अथातो ब्रह्मजिज्ञासा ॐ॥

Therefore, the desire to know Brahman now commences.

  • Brahmasutras 1.1.1

 

Now let us sing the praises of the glory of Aksharbrahman:

ॐ ब्र॒ह्म॒विदा॑प्नोति॒ परम्᳚ ।

One who knows Aksharbrahman [becomes brahmarup] attains Parabrahman.

  • Taittiriya Upanishad, Anandvalli 1
स॒त्यं ज्ञा॒नम॑न॒न्तं ब्रह्म॑ ।

Aksharbrahman is true, the form of knowledge, and endless.

  • Taittiriya Upanishad, Anandvalli 1
अक्षरात् सम्भवतीह विश्वम् ।

From this Akshar, the entire world is created.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 1.1.7

एतस्य वा अक्षरस्य प्रशासने गार्गि
सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ विधृतौ तिष्ठत ।।

O Gargi! Under the control of this Aksharbrahman, the sun and the moon remain stable.

  • Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.8.9
एतस्य वा अक्षरस्य प्रशासने गार्गि
द्यावापृथिव्यौ विधृते तिष्ठत ।।

O Gargi! Under the control of this Aksharbrahman, the heavenly realms and the earth remain stable.

  • Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.8.9
एतदालम्बनँ श्रेष्ठम ।

This Aksharbrahman is the best support.

  • Katha Upanishad 2.17
एतदालम्बनँ परम् ।

This Aksharbrahman is the highest support.

  • Katha Upanishad 2.17
एतदालम्बनं ज्ञात्वा ।

Upon knowing this support in the form of Aksharbrahman…

  • Katha Upanishad 2.17
ब्रह्मलोके महीयते ॥

…one attains great bliss in Brahmalok [Akshardham].

  • Katha Upanishad 2.17
दिव्ये ब्रह्मपुरे ह्येष व्योम्न्यात्मा प्रतिष्ठितः ॥

In the divine Brahmapur [Akshardham] resides this Aksharbrahman, the life-force of all beings.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 2.2.7
मनोमयः प्राणशरीरनेता ।

He is embodied with a divine mind, pran, form, etc.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 2.2.7
यो वा एतदक्षरं गार्ग्यविदित्वाऽस्माल्लोकात्प्रैति स कृपणः ।

Gargi! Those who die within this realm without realizing this Aksharbrahman are miserable and pitiful. Believe that their birth has gone to waste.

  • Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.8.10
अथ य एतदक्षरं गार्गि विदित्वाऽस्माल्लोकात्प्रैति स ब्राह्मणः ॥

On the other hand, Gargi! Only those who depart this world having realized this Akshar are the ones who truly understand Brahmavidya.

  • Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.8.10

 

Now let us sing the praises of the glory of Parabrahman:

अक्षरात् परतः परः ॥

Purushottam is superior to even Aksharbrahman, who is superior to all else.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 2.1.2
पुरुषान्न परं किञ्चित् ।

Nothing is superior to Purushottam.

  • Katha Upanishad 3.11
सा काष्ठा सा परा गतिः ॥

He is the ultimate entity. He is the highest attainment.

  • Katha Upanishad 3.11

उपासते पुरुषं ये ह्यकामास्ते
शुक्रमेतदतिवर्तन्ति धीराः ॥

Those free of desires worship this Purushottam and transcend maya.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 3.2.1
ब्रह्मभूतः प्रसन्नात्मा ।

One who becomes brahmarup becomes internally fulfilled.

  • Bhagavad Gita 18.54
न शोचति न काङ्क्षति ।

He never laments nor has any material desires.

  • Bhagavad Gita 18.54
समः सर्वेषु भूतेषु मद्भक्तिं लभते पराम् ॥

He treats all as equal and attains supreme devotion to God.

  • Bhagavad Gita 18.54

 

Let us now sing the praises of the glory of the Aksharbrahmaswarup Guru:

तद्विज्ञानार्थं ।

To attain this Brahmavidya…

  • Mundaka Upanishad 1.2.12
स गुरुमेवाभिगच्छेत्स मित्पाणिः।

…one should surrender to a guru…

  • Mundaka Upanishad 1.2.12
श्रोत्रियं ब्रह्मनिष्ठम् ॥

…who is well versed in the shastras, is Aksharbrahma himself and has conviction in Parabrahman.

  • Mundaka Upanishad 1.2.12

यः सेतुरिजानानाम् ।

This Aksharbrahman is a bridge for those who desire to cross the ocean of sansar [maya].

  • Katha Upanishad 3.2
अक्षरं ब्रह्म यत् परम् ।

This Aksharbrahman is a bridge for those who desire to cross the ocean of sansar [maya].

  • Katha Upanishad 3.2
अभयं तितीर्षतां पारं नाचिकेतँ शकेमहि ॥

Nachiketa! With its help, one overcomes sansar, reaches Akshardham and attains Parmatma.

  • Katha Upanishad 3.2
यस्य देवे परा भक्तिः यथा देवे तथा गुरौ ।

In the same way that one offers supreme devotion to Parbrahman if one offers such devotion to the Guru…

  • Shvetasvatara Upanishad 6.23
तस्यैते कथिता ह्यर्थाः प्रकाशन्ते महात्मनः ॥

…then all the wisdom of the Upanishads enlightens one’s heart.

  • Shvetasvatara Upanishad 6.23

 

Conclusion: In this way, the Akshar-Purushottam Siddhant is the eternal truth. Let us now imbibe this truth within our lives and also explain it to others.
